Man held for posing as election official
Salem (TN), May 1: A dismissed Taluk office assistant has been arrested after he attempted to extort money from a TASMAC-run liquor outlet in Veeranam here by posing as a election flying squad official, police said today.
29-year old Prabhu, who was dismissed as office assistant in the Taluk office in Kallakurchi, came to the TASMAC shop last night posing himself as an election official and asked for accounts to scrutinise them.

After the staff showed him the books, he demanded money following which the former got suspicion and asked him to show his ID card. As he did not have an ID card, he ran away from there.
But the passersby chased and nabbed him. He was later arrested and further investigations were on, police said.
