If Exit Poll Results For Lok Sabha Elections Turn True, BJP Will Shatter North-South Divide Debate
The exit polls released after the conclusion of the seventh phase of polling in the Lok Sabha elections clearly shows that the BJP is set for its third term. More importantly, the saffron party is set to shatter the narrative of the North-South divide by winning seats across five southern states.
According to the exit polls, the BJP, which has been striving to expand its influence in the South, is poised to deliver a strong performance in Karnataka and Telangana and achieve significant gains in Andhra Pradesh while making inroads in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

It is interesting to note that the BJP had drawn a blank in three Southern states - Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra - in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
How is BJP Performing in the South as per exit polls?
In Karnataka, the BJP is doing well as per the exit polls. Many pollsters have predicted that the BJP-JDS alliance will win over 20 seats with India Today-Axis My India giving the highest at 23-25 seats, leaving 3 seats for Congress despite being in power.
Exit polls indicate that a dramatic showdown could unfold on June 4 when the votes are counted for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. A similarly tight contest is anticipated for the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.
In Andhra Pradesh, multiple exit polls state an intense political showdown may unfold on June 4 during the vote counting for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. A similarly tight race seems imminent for Telangana's 17 Lok Sabha seats.
In the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh, several exit polls indicate a strong performance by the National Democratic Alliance. However, in Telangana, Congress and the BJP are expected to have a closely contested race. The BRS is likely to be relegated to a distant third position, facing the prospect of a complete electoral wipeout if the exit poll predictions of 0-1 seats are accurate.
As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the Annamalai-led BJP is predicted to open its account with a good vote share. The most optimistic projection for the BJP coalition comes from India TV-CNX, which predicts between five and seven seats. India Today-Axis My India's exit poll forecasts two to four seats.
Last but not least, the BJP is predicted to bag one to three seats. It has a high chance of winning Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal and Thrissur.
What Happens If The Predictions Come True?
The BJP has been long labelled by some parties as North Indian party. In the last few years, the Opposition parties have been trying to carefully build a narrative on North versus South divide. If the predictions come true and the lotus blooms in south India, the saffron party will be crushing this narrative all at once.
It will use this achievement as a validation to its claims that there is no North-south divide and the BJP will become a pan-India party in a true sense while giving a boost to its narrative of putting the country's interest before everything.
Well, June 4 has the answer.
