Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and popular actor Vijay has started his 98-day political tour across Tamil Nadu on Saturday in Trichy.

His journey commenced from the MGR statue at the Gandhi Market Police Station, Marakkadai, Trichy. It will be just 25 25-minute event between 10.35 am and 11.00 am.

The city came alive as thousands of fans lined the streets to greet their beloved star with cheers, applause, and heartfelt gifts.

Viral visuals on social media captured Vijay inside a van, flanked by tight security, waving to an enthusiastic crowd trailing his vehicle. The atmosphere was electric, with fans showering him with tokens of admiration. One particularly touching moment saw a fan attempt to hand Vijay a rosary chain-initially intercepted by his bodyguard. Noticing the gesture, Vijay personally reached out to accept the gift, a move that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

Later, he donned a pair of sunglasses gifted by another fan and playfully sought their approval with a gesture, which was met with a thunderous response.

Tour Details and Vision

Dubbed with the slogan "History returns to crown the deserving; your Vijay is coming," the tour is designed to connect directly with voters. Vijay stated his intention to travel to every district to meet the people, whom he referred to as his "family," and to amplify their concerns. He positioned his TVK party as one that understands the public's pulse and is committed to establishing a "conscience-driven democracy."

Clash with the State Government

Criticising the Tamil Nadu government for imposing restrictions on his event, Vijay criticized the ruling DMK government, accusing it of losing the public's trust through "false promises and empty publicity stunts." He specifically targeted Chief Minister MK Stalin's administration for imposing what he called unprecedented security restrictions on his public meeting, a claim he stated no other political leader in the state's history has faced.

He urged the government to focus on its moral obligation to ensure public safety rather than using security as a pretext to limit democratic engagement.

Stringent Police Conditions

The Trichy police have enforced strict guidelines for the inaugural event, limiting the gathering to just 25 minutes between 10:35 AM and 11:00 AM. Key restrictions include:

A ban on roadshows, vehicle processions, or public receptions.

Limiting the campaign convoy to only six vehicles.

Prohibiting party members from marching on foot.

Requiring the party to provide its own drinking water, first-aid, ambulance, and fire safety arrangements.

The TVK has reportedly accepted all 23 conditions to ensure the event proceeds smoothly and without disrupting law and order in the busy commercial area.

The final leg of Vijay's campaign begins with visits to Thanjavur and Pudukkottai on December 6. On December 13, he will reach out to voters in Salem, Namakkal, and Karur. The grand finale of his tour is set for December 20 when he concludes by visiting Dindigul, Theni, and Madurai.

Meanwhile, TVK's general secretary N Anand has taken proactive steps by submitting a letter to the Tamil Nadu DGP. This letter requests security measures and traffic management during Vijay's district-wise campaign events to ensure smooth proceedings.
