Jayalalithaa undergoes surgery after cardiac arrest

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is said to have undergone a minor surgery soon after a cardiac arrest on Sunday. The minor surgery was successfull and the leader is currently under observation according to sources.

Party Spokesperson C R Saraswati also said that the leader underwent a minor procedure on late Sunday night and doctors informed the party that she was recovering. "As she was all set to return home, Amma suffered a cardiac arrest. She underwent a minor procedure and doctors tell us that there is nothing to worry about", she said. The 68 year old leader was put on an extracorporeal membrane heart assist device, a life support system that aids heart and lung functioning on Sunday.

A team of experts from AIIMS have landed at Apollo hospital to help treat the ailing Chief Minister. Within hours of AIADMK spokesperson claiming full recovery of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Sunday, she suffered a cardiac arrest.
