Professor Richard Beale, the specialist from London who treated Jayalalithaa has issued a statement on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's health. The professor has called Jayalalithaa's condition extremely grave.

He added that everything is being done to give her the best chance at surviving this shocking event. Professor Beale added that 'despite the progress she had made, her underlying health conditions inevitably meant that the risk of further problems always remained'. In his statement Prof Beale also said that his thoughts and prayers are with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
