'Jailer' Tamil Nadu Box Office Collection (4 Days): Rajini Bounces Back

Rajinikanth has bounced back in style with his latest movie 'Jailer' which hit the screens worldwide on Thursday, August 10.

Released in over 5,000 screens worldwide, the movie, which hit the screens in multiple languages, has struck gold at the collection centres. With the movie getting a gigantic response, Rajinikanth has ended his lull period at the box office.

"He has been a long due for such an opening. His last movie to create such a huge buzz at the box office was 'Kabali'," Bengaluru's Venkateshwara cinema hall representative tells Oneindia.

Although his 'Petta' has garnered a fairly positive response, the movie could not get such a thunderous response. The major part of its success goes to the way Sun Pictures, owned by the members of the ruling DMK party, marketed the flick.

"Rajini's mannerisms and the content obviously are good, but Sun Pictures has promoted it well," industry insiders say.

The movie saw the light of the day in over 700 screens in the state and many theatres which struggled to pull audience to theatres are now witnessing a good footfall. Thanks to the long "Independence Day weekend, people are making out to watch the flick with their family members," a trade analyst says.

In four days, the Tamil flick has crossed Rs 75-crore mark at the Tamil Nadu box office.

Meanwhile, trade analysts have claimed that the movie has minted over Rs 300 crore at the worldwide box office. However, the makers have not revealed the official numbers of the flick.

On the other hand, the movie has grossed over $4 million at the US box office.
