I've Been Threatened Earlier Too: Kamal Haasan Refuses To Apologise Over 'Kannada Born Out Of Tamil' Remark
Actor Kamal Haasan has refused to apologise to Kannadigas over the controversy where he claimed that "Kannada was born out of Tamil".
I Will Not Apologise: Kamal Haasan
Speaking to reporters on Friday, the actor has said that he will not lend an apology since he has not done anything wrong.

"It is a democracy. I believe in the law and justice. My love for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala is true. Nobody will suspect it except for those who have an agenda. I've been threatened earlier too, and if I am wrong, I would apologise, if I'm not, I won't...," actor and Kamal Haasan said on warning by the pro-Kannada groups on banning his movie in Karnataka.
KFCC To Ban If Kamal Doesn't Apologise
On the other hand, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has demanded Kamal Haasan to give an apology, failing which they will ban the movie in the state. Even Karnataka's Minister for Kannada and Culture, Shivaraj S Tangadagi has directed the film chamber not to release the movie unless the Tamil actor gives an apology.
"When it comes to our language, land, and water, we will not tolerate anyone speaking against them, no matter how big the person is, even if it is Kamal Haasan," the minister said in a letter to the KFCC.
The controversy stems from Kamal Haasan's comments at the Thug Life audio launch in Chennai, where he referred to Shivarajkumar as 'family' and said: "Your language (Kannada) was born from Tamil. So you're part of that family."
Following the controversy, Kamal Haasan, two days ago, said, "What I said was said out of love, and a lot of historians have taught me language history. I didn't mean anything," Talking about Tamil Nadu, he claimed, "Tamil Nadu is a state where a Menon has been our Chief Minister, where a Reddy has been our Chief Minister, a Tamil has been our CM, and a Kannadiga Iyengar has been our Chief Minister,"
