Is Thalapathy Vijay's TVK Joining AIADMK-BJP Alliance? Here's What Nainar Nagendran Says

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Nainar Nagendran has responded to the rumours of Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) joining the AIADMK and NDA alliance.

The Tirunelveli MLA said that he is unaware of any developments related to the TVK-AIADMK talks, according to a report in DT Next. He told reporters: "I have no knowledge of any ongoing talks between the BJP and TVK. I met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday. Today, I came here to seek the blessings of Kamakshi Amman. We can talk more when we meet again at Fort St. George tomorrow."

Is Thalapathy Vijay s TVK Joining AIADMK-BJP Alliance Ahead Of 2026 TN Assembly Polls Here s What Nainar Nagendran Says

As per the reports in the Tamil media, serious efforts were being made to bring actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) into the AIADMK-BJP alliance. The BJP high command has set an August deadline for a final decision, allowing sufficient time for groundwork ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

In a recent meeting, AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP's Nainar Nagendran reportedly agreed on a joint strategy to "overthrow the DMK regime." They emphasized the need to present a united front and intensify public outreach in the remaining ten months before elections.

However, the BJP is currently not actively pursuing Vijay's party. However, he hinted that national BJP leaders might still push for an alliance, though TVK would likely be allotted no more than 50 seats.

On the other end, the AIADMK wants to 180 seats in the next Tamil Nadu assembly elections, with seat-sharing discussions pending. The alliance's final structure-including candidate selection and constituency surveys-will depend on whether TVK joins by August.

In the 2021 assembly polls, the AIADMK had fielded candidates in 179 constituencies, 23 candidates from the PMK, 20 from the BJP, and 6 from the GK Vasan's TMC.

The AIADMK rejoined the NDA alliance earlier this month. The Dravidian major had walked out of the alliance in 2023 after clashing with the then-BJP state president Annamalai.
