Is Thalapathy Vijay's TVK First Political Rally Postponed?

Thalapathy Vijay, who is currently enjoying the success of his latest film 'The Greatest Of All Time' has reportedly decided to postpone the first state conference of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

The event was initially scheduled for September 23. However, party insiders revealed to DTNext that Vijay held a meeting with the party's general secretary, N. Anand, and other senior functionaries at his residence on Thursday to discuss the matter. The public rally is now expected to take place in October.

"A lot of preparation should have begun immediately after the announcement of the conference. However, due to delays in obtaining police permission, we are unable to complete all necessary arrangements within the given timeframe. Moreover, some of our senior leaders are suggesting that Thalapathy postpone the event, as the police-imposed conditions could hinder its successful execution," a district-level TVK functionary was quoted as saying.

The TVK had received police permission to hold the rally on September 23 at V Salai village in Vikravandi, near the Chennai-Tiruchy highway.

Another source mentioned that while Vijay was eager to proceed with the conference as planned, he was briefed by senior officials about the practical constraints involved, leading them to suggest a postponement.

"Taking these suggestions into account, Vijay has decided to postpone the conference and is expected to announce a new date soon," the source added.

There have been discussions about rescheduling the event for the third week of October. However, party members remain cautious about an October date due to the challenges posed by the monsoon season. If an alternative date is chosen, the party will have to reapply for police permission, which has also been considered, sources informed the newspaper.
