India's First ever Liver transplant surgery...
Chennai: "Education and Healthcare are the eyes of our Government," says the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. Even when the Covid wave was destroying the whole world, Tamilnadu government Hospitals did a wonderful job suppressing the impact. No other country in the world has this tremendous infrastructure of Public Health Care system as India. In India, Tamilnadu has the best.
Healthcare Infrastructure in Tamilnadu:
There are nearly 1800 primary health care centres, 8700 health sub-centres, and 420 upgraded PHCs in Tamilnadu. Moreover, there are 461 urban PHCs, 18 district head hospitals, 272 Taluk hospitals, and 36 government medical colleges with 62 hospitals in the state. No other state has this much of an infrastructure for the welfare of the public. As a crown of the public health care system Chennai has its own government Multispeciality Hospital.

The doctor-patient ratio of Tamilnadu is 1: 1,000. To be precise, there are 149 government doctors for every 1 lakh people. As per the latest data, the state has 1 lakh and 49 thousand additional doctors. This data shows that Tamilnadu is a pioneer in creating a progressive healthcare system in the country.
Recently Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched seven new programmes at Chennai Anna Centenary Library Hall. Under the Health & Family Welfare Department, CM Stalin laid a foundation stone for 44 new government hospitals at a whopping budget of ₹ 1,136.32 crore in Tamilnadu. This is indeed an act of enhancement for the State's welfare. Soon Tamilnadu will be the capital of Healthcare in India.
While we are discussing the future, Tamilnadu government hospital performed a silent achievement in the history of Indian health care.
First ever Liver Transplant Surgery:
For the first time in Indian History, Mani, a 52-year-old patient from Erode received a liver transplant surgery at Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital. This is the first liver transplant surgery ever performed in the country. 'Within 17 days of the surgery, the patient started to function on his own and he is all set to get discharged from the hospital' says TN Health and family welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian.

The organ was harvested from a brain-dead patient from the same hospital. The liver surgery, which would cost around ₹ 35 lakhs at a private hospital, was performed free of cost under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme at a Government Hospital.
TN Govt save actor Bonda Mani:
This Scheme was initially launched by Former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in 2008. Tamilnadu is a pioneer in executing such schemes in the Country. Moreover, Tamilnadu ranks Second in the country in deceased organ donations rate. When actor Bonda Mani was suffering from Kidney failure, the Tamilnadu government came forward to perform a free kidney transplant surgery. To aid the people of Tamilnadu, the state government is executing various healthcare schemes.

The government hospitals in Tamilnadu are providing dialysis treatment for free. This helps people to get treated as patients from the hospitals. Government Doctor Ravikumar says, "Diabetes has to be identified at its initial stage itself. Only then the doctors can give proper treatment. Diabetic people should maintain their Blood pressure. Regular exercises will help. In the same ways, daily walks, and control over food are also necessary. No one should consume painkillers without a Doctor's prescription. Government Hospitals in Tamilnadu are providing 24-hour free dialysis treatment for the people".
Dialysis for 3,500 to 3,700 patients per month:
The Doctor adds that "Every District and Taluk government hospital is also providing free dialysis treatments for the people. In Chennai, there are more than 70 dialysis equipments in government hospitals. Nearly 3,500 to 3,700 patients are getting this dialysis treatment every month, which sums up that 100 to 150 patients are getting dialysis daily. Even during weekends and government holidays, people can avail of this treatment free of cost".

Madhesh, a patient getting treated for kidneys says that "I am getting treatment for my kidney failure for the past eight months. I am receiving only the best treatment for the past 8 months. Tomorrow is my surgery and I would like to express my gratitude to our CM M.K.Stalin for providing this treatment free of cost".
Another patient Mr Padmanabhan from Soolaimedu says, "I have been visiting the government hospital for the past year to get dialysis. The doctors are treating us with utmost care. No one is showing hatred towards us while getting treated for free".
