HR Bhardwaj to retire on June 28, TN Guv to take over

77-year-old Bhardwaj, who was the Law Minister in UPA-I, took charge as the Governor of Karnataka on June 29, 2009 and has been occupying the post since then. Meanwhile, there was pressure from the NDA government to many governors across the country to step down fro their respective posts.
Reports suggested that the BJP wanted to appoint some BJP leaders as governors. However Bhardwaj, refused to step down as his tenure was coming to an end this month.
Meanwhile, Tripura Governor Devanand Konwar will also retire along with Bhardwaj. 71-year-old Konwar, a former Congress Minister in Assam, was first appointed as the Governor of Bihar on June 29, 2009 and continued in the post till March 21, 2013. He was then transferred as Governor of Tripura.
