Gold & Silver Rates In Tamil Nadu: Prices See Sharp Uptick In Chennai On Mar 2

Gold and silver prices in Chennai witnessed a notable surge on Monday, reflecting the broader bullish trend in the precious metals market.

According to the latest update at 11:05 AM Bullions, both gold and silver rates have recorded sharp gains, offering cheer to investors while making jewellery purchases slightly more expensive for consumers.

Gold Prices in Chennai Today

In Chennai, 24 Karat gold is currently priced at ₹16,752 per gram. This translates to ₹1,67,520 for 10 grams and ₹16,75,200 for 100 grams. For bulk buyers, 1 kilogram of 24 Karat gold costs ₹1,67,52,000. In international measurement terms, the price stands at ₹4,74,911 per ounce and ₹1,95,392 per tola, the data said.

Similarly, 22 Karat gold, widely used for jewellery making, is priced at ₹15,356 per gram. The rate for 10 grams is ₹1,53,560, while 100 grams costs ₹15,35,600. A kilogram of 22 Karat gold is being sold at ₹1,53,56,000.

Other purity levels have also seen corresponding rates. 20 Karat gold is at ₹13,960 per gram, 18 Karat gold at ₹12,564 per gram, and 14 Karat gold at ₹9,772 per gram. Lower purity variants such as 12 Karat and 10 Karat are priced at ₹8,376 and ₹6,980 per gram respectively.

Gold Registers Nearly 3% Jump

Gold prices in Tamil Nadu have climbed significantly in recent sessions. The price of 24 Karat gold (₹/10gm) stands at ₹1,62,660, marking a rise of 2.99%. This nearly 3% jump indicates strong buying interest, possibly driven by global uncertainties, currency fluctuations, and sustained investor demand for safe-haven assets.

Market analysts note that gold typically performs well during times of economic volatility. With international cues remaining firm and domestic demand steady, the yellow metal continues to hold its upward momentum.

Silver Prices in Tamil Nadu Today

Silver prices have also mirrored gold's rally. Silver 999 Fine is currently priced at ₹291 per gram in Tamil Nadu. For 10 grams, the rate is ₹2,910, while 100 grams costs ₹29,097. A kilogram of silver now stands at ₹2,90,970. In ounce terms, silver is priced at ₹8,249, and ₹3,394 per tola.

Other silver variants show similar trends. Silver 925 Sterling is available at ₹269 per gram, while Silver 900 Coin is priced at ₹262 per gram. Silver 800 German is trading at ₹233 per gram.

Silver 999 (₹/1kg) is currently at ₹2,82,450, reflecting a 3.02% increase. The sharp rise suggests heightened industrial demand as well as investor participation. Silver often benefits from both industrial usage and investment demand, making its price movement more dynamic compared to gold.
