From Where Will Vijay Contest in TN 2026 Polls? Not Chennai, TVK Chief Eyes AIADMK Stronghold

As Tamil Nadu gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections, the political landscape is witnessing a dramatic shift with the possible entry of actor Vijay into the fray. With just a year to go, all eyes are on Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party led by Vijay, which is expected to disrupt the traditional DMK vs AIADMK equation, creating a potential three-way battle.

Vijay, who enjoys immense popularity among the youth, is likely to tap into the support of first-time voters. Political observers believe this could translate into a significant advantage for TVK, especially in urban and semi-urban constituencies.

Vijay Sets Eyes On AIADMK Stronghold

Amid growing anticipation, a major question lingers: Which constituency will Vijay contest from? Within TVK circles, speculation is rife that Vijay might choose Madurai West, a politically significant seat with a rich history. Posters have already surfaced claiming a landslide victory if he contests there, further fuelling the buzz.

Madurai West is no ordinary constituency-it has been a stronghold of the AIADMK, with veteran leader Sellur K Raju winning it three times consecutively. It also holds sentimental value, as MGR, one of Tamil Nadu's most iconic leaders and a fellow actor-turned-politician, contested and won from the region in 1980.

Vijay's Recent Visit To Madurai

Vijay's recent visit to Madurai intensified the speculation. Although he clarified at Chennai airport that his trip was strictly professional-linked to the shooting of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan-rumours about political groundwork refused to die down.

"There's a lot of misinformation about my Madurai visit," Vijay said, addressing the press. "It was not political. I was there for my film shoot and heading to Kodaikanal next."

Even so, his presence drew massive crowds. Despite urging fans not to gather recklessly, hundreds assembled at the Madurai airport from early morning, creating security challenges. Vijay expressed concern over the fans' safety, especially after reports of risky behaviour, including a fan jumping from a tree to catch a glimpse of him.

"I request my fans to act responsibly. Wearing helmets and ensuring safety is more important than chasing me on bikes," he said.

He also assured his followers that a proper political meet would be held soon, hinting at an event similar to TVK's well-received booth committee meeting in Coimbatore. "I will meet you all again soon at a TVK event. Let's wait for that moment," Vijay told his supporters.

After completing his film schedule, Vijay left Madurai in a private jet, but not before being given a hero's send-off. Fans celebrated his visit with grand gestures-flower showers, milk ablutions, and spirited chants, reaffirming the kind of mass appeal that could well translate into political capital in 2026.

With speculation building and the clock ticking toward election season, all eyes are now on Madurai West-and Vijay's next move.
