From Where Will Vijay Will Resume TVK Campaign After Karur Tragedy?

The Karur incident on September 27 shook the TVK to its core. A massive crowd surge during Vijay's rally led to a stampede-like situation, resulting in tragic fatalities and injuries. Deeply affected, Vijay immediately suspended all campaign activities and privately met with victims' families, offering condolences and financial support.

After the tragedy, Vijay recently attended the party's Special General Committee and Executive Committee meetings in Chennai. There, he reaffirmed his commitment to politics, vowing to continue his journey with renewed resolve. He also launched a scathing critique of the ruling DMK government, which reportedly galvanised party members.

During the Chennai meetings, district leaders-especially from Salem-urged Vijay to restart his outreach from their region. Salem, a neighbouring district with a robust TVK base, was seen as a strategic launchpad following successful rallies in Namakkal and Karur, according to a report in the IANS.

Vijay has tentatively agreed to the proposal. Senior TVK officials are now working on rally logistics, though the final decision on date and venue rests with the party's high command and general secretary.

In light of the Karur tragedy, TVK is taking no chances. Salem district executives have begun preparations, including venue scouting, police permissions, and enhanced security protocols. A commission of inquiry led by a retired High Court judge has already reviewed the Karur incident, prompting a revamp of crowd management strategies for future events.

With Tamil Nadu Assembly elections looming, anticipation is mounting among TVK cadres and Vijay's supporters. Many believe his return-starting from Salem, could reignite the party's momentum and reshape the electoral landscape.
