From Pachamalai Hills To NIT Trichy: Tribal Girl Rohini's Inspiring JEE Journey

Rohini, a girl from the tribal community of Pachamalai Hills, has made history by becoming the first tribal student in 60 years from her district to secure a seat at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy).

The 18-year-old cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) with a remarkable score of 73.8 percent and opted for a course in Chemical Engineering.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Rohini said, "I am a student from a tribal community who studied in a tribal government school. I appeared in the JEE exam and secured 73.8 percent. I have secured a seat in NIT Trichy and I opted for Chemical Engineering. Tamil Nadu state government has come forward to pay all my fees, I thank the CM for helping me. I performed well because of my headmaster and the staff of my school."

The achievement marks a significant milestone for the tribal community in the region. According to Tribal Welfare officials, Rohini's success is a testament to the potential within the community when given the right support and opportunities.

Talking about her preparation for the exams, she told The New Indian Express: "I can't forget my teachers' hard work in the past two years. They encouraged me to appear for all exams. I have always wanted to be an engineer, and now I will study at NIT-T. I will try my best to help students from my school to achieve the same."

Rohini's parents are construction workers and had migrated to Kerala to build a better future for their children. Despite the challenges, Rohini remained dedicated to her studies, appearing for multiple exams including NEET, CLAT, and JEE.

Rohini's success story is an inspiration, demonstrating how perseverance and support can break barriers and open doors to prestigious institutions like NIT Trichy.
