Foxconn To Start Assembling Apple iPads In Tamil Nadu's Sriperumbudur
Foxconn is preparing to begin assembling iPads at its facility in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, as part of a significant expansion of its supply chain in India for Apple products, Economic Times reported.
This development marks a notable shift, as Foxconn and other global contract manufacturers have previously only assembled Apple's smartphones in India.

"Foxconn is seriously looking to start assembling Apple iPads out of its Tamil Nadu facility," the publication quoted one source as saying.
Discussions with the government have reportedly already taken place. "Their experience so far has been very good, and they are coming full force. They will double what they have in the next few years, which includes iPhone, iPads, and some other products too," another insider told ET.
While the assembly of the Mac range of laptops may take some time due to lower production volumes, industry sources are optimistic about the ease of iPad assembly. "It (iPad) is like a bigger iPhone in essence. So, it is something that can be assembled in India without too much trouble as Apple's contract manufacturers are already well-equipped to manage such functions," one source commented.
Foxconn's expansion in India reflects the company's commitment to increasing its footprint in the country and enhancing its capabilities in producing a broader range of Apple products.
