Tamil Nadu's tourism landscape is set to reach new heights with the launch of its first floating restaurant, Seanz Cruise, at Muttukadu Boat House on the East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai.

The project, built at a cost of Rs 5 crore, was developed through a public-private partnership between the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and Cochin-based Grandeur Marine International. The first look pictures of the floating restaurant are out and have gone viral.

Features of Seanz Cruise

The floating restaurant is a double-decker vessel measuring 125 feet in length and 25 feet in width, with air-conditioned interiors and a seating capacity of 100 diners. The upper deck offers an open-air space perfect for enjoying sunsets, while the restaurant provides a buffet serving Indian cuisine. Officials have hinted that the menu may later cater to international guests as well.

Safety and Accessibility

Seanz Cruise is equipped with comprehensive safety measures, including lifeboats, lifejackets for all visitors, and fire extinguishers, ensuring a secure experience for diners.

Future Plans for Expansion

The Tamil Nadu tourism department plans to operate the floating restaurant between Muttukadu and Mahabalipuram along the Buckingham Canal. However, the full cruise service is expected to take two years to commence due to the need for dredging the canal. Until then, the floating restaurant will remain anchored at Muttukadu Boat House, according to a report in The New Indian Express.
