DMK's Dayanidhi Maran Likens PM Modi's Chennai Roadshow To Gemini Circus After Calling Annamalai 'Joker'

Days after calling Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai as "joker", former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran has mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Chennai roadshow to "Gemini Circus".

On a question about the Prime Minister's roadshow, Dayanidhi Maran told Times Of India: "I think this new generation will not be aware of it. Earlier in our generation, we used to have the circus called the Gemini Circus or the Great Bombay Circus, it happens once in a while. All of us go to the circus and watch the show. Similarly, Modi gave a show only for the West Mambalam people, not for the entire Chennai."

On asking whether the battle at the Central Chennai constituency was between the BJP and the AIADMK, he said that the saffron party is no competing with the NOTA while the actual competition is between the DMK and the AIADMK.

Maran said, "Definitely not. It is DMK versus ADMK. BJP is not anywhere on the scene. Probably they'll be competing with NOTA. That's how low they are. Because they can't. See this is all the inflated narrative made by BJP to look strong. How can they grow from 3%? They've done nothing. Has the prime minister delivered anything for Tamil Nadu or any of Chennai or anything? There's no projects."

Days ago, Maran had triggered a controversy after calling Annamalai a "joker".

When India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai asked him about the fear of the rising star in the BJP, Maran said, "Who is it?" Then, the journalist reminded him that he is the Tamil Nadu BJP chief and Coimbatore Lok Sabha candidate for which he said, "the joker".

"You are talking about that joker," the DMK leader asks amid the cheers from his supporters. To his response, the journalist asked, "Are you underestimating him?" The DMK shot back saying, "Are you overestimating him? He is a lame duck."
