Did 'Jailer' Box Office Collection Drop After Rajini Touched Yogi's Feet?
For the last few days, the controversy around Rajinikanth touching the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been a topic of debate on Tamil media and social media.
His gesture to seek Yogi's blessing despite the former being elder to the latter has not gone well with many.

Last weekend, Rajinikanth met Uttar Pradesh CM at his residence. As he arrived at his residence, Rajini touched the feet of Yogi Adityanath. The gesture was caught on camera.
As the clips went viral, many Rajini fans disapproved his gesture. Many fans of the DMK and Congress went ahead on social media and claimed that this act by the Tamil superstar will have an adverse impact on the collection of his latest flick 'Jailer'.
As a result, the collection of 'Jailer' will be affected. From Monday, the business of the flick has visibly dropped paving the way for many to wonder whether Tamils have rejected the flick over the controversy.
However, industry insiders have denied any link to the drop in business to Rajini touching the feet of Yogi. "Today, the lifespan of any big movie is hardly two weeks. If a flick opens to positive reviews, people will throng into theatres in the first two weeks. As far as 'Jailer' is concerned, it has made big numbers in Tamil Nadu already. Even if this controversy had not happened, the business would have dropped from Monday," a senior trade tracker says.
As per the trade reports, the movie has already minted over Rs 140 crore in its home territory. On Monday, the business raked in less than Rs 5 crore.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth responded to the controversy by saying, "It is my habit to touch the feet of Yogis or Sanyasis and take their blessings, even if they are younger to me, I have done that only."
