Dalit Girl On Her Periods Forced To Write Exams Outside Her Class, Faces Backlash
In a disturbing incident, a private school in the Coimbatore district made a class 8 student write her exams outside her classroom during exams following her first menstrual cycle.
The incident occurred at Swamy Chidbhavananda Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Senguttaipalayam village. According to reports, the girl attained puberty on April 5 and was made to write her Science exam on April 7 and Social Science exam on April 9 outside the classroom, according to a report in The Times of India.

After writing her first exam, she told her mother about the incident. Two days later, the girl's mother visited the school and recorded the discriminatory practice on her phone. The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage.
Local Dalit activists have condemned the school's actions, while villagers plan to meet the Pollachi sub-collector today to demand strict action against the school management.
"The girl told the incident on April 7 evening to her mother. The mother visited the school on Wednesday and noticed her daughter was made to sit outside the classroom to attend the examination. She recorded the incident using her mobile camera. The video went viral on social media on Wednesday night," The Times of India quoted a Dalit activist as saying.
Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar confirmed that an inquiry has been initiated, with the police and education officials directed to submit a detailed report. The district administration has assured stringent measures against the school if the allegations are proven true.
