Consecration ceremony of 1041 temples done within 860 days in Tamil Nadu

It's been 860 days since the Dravidian model government assumed power. Within just 860 days, consecration ceremonies have been done for almost 1041 temples. Apart from consecration, temple land worth 4505 crores has been recovered in the last 2 years, which is a mammoth achievement since the creation of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Department.

CM Stalin in his twitter page tweeted about the achievements of the Hindu Religious Department. The contents of his tweet include the success of Dravidian model of government which ensures 'everything for everyone', recovery of temple properties worth approximately 5000 crores, consecration of 1000th temple i.e. Kasi Viswanathar temple in West Mambalam, Chennai etc. This stands testimony to the fact that, DMK government is functioning as an unparalleled government admired by all religious believers.

How is this possible? Is the accusation of DMK being an anti-spiritual party false? Answers for these questions are given by significant personalities.

Political analyst Ramasubramanian's view:

From 07.05.2021, the day when DMK formed government till 11.09.2023, around 1041 temples have been consecrated. CM Stalin's government is the best spiritual regime that could be seen compared to his predecessors including Kamaraj, Annadurai, Karunanidhi, M.G.R., Jayalalithaa, O.P.S., E.P.S. etc.

For example, after 400 years, consecration has been done in Adi Kesava Perumal temple in Thiruvattar, Kanyakumari during Stalin's rule. Similarly, after 300 years consecration was done in Uthiramerur Varatharaja Perumal temple; after 150 years in Arakkonam Gangadeeshwarar temple; after 123 years in Tirunelveli Arikesanallur Ariyanathaswamy temple; after 110 years in Vellore Draupadi Amman temple and after 100 years in 5 other temples.

Correspondingly, it was DMK's government which changed the Annadhanam scheme (free food scheme) to full-day annadhanam scheme in temples. Ramasubramanian said, "...anti-DMK elements are spreading lies about this regime which did so much for the religious welfare of the people. It doesn't matter because CM Stalin has shattered the rumours and lies with his actions."

Mayilam Pompura Aadheenam Srilasri Sivagnana Balaya Swamigal's view:

In India, Tamil Nadu alone has approximately 36,000 temples. India is a secular country which gives equal importance and respect to all religions. Likewise, Tamil Nadu is also a secular state which treats all religions equally. Going by this notion, the Department of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments has done consecration to around 1000 temples which were not given proper attention and care before.

1000 has always been an important number and considered auspicious in Hindu religion. The task was handed over to Sekar Babu, the Minister of Charitable Endowments. Sekar Babu is the right person for the task owing to his beliefs and devotion to God. DMK government has honoured various Aadheenams by inviting religious leaders to important government functions and programs. This is proof of the fact that the DMK regime is a spiritual regime.

Saiva Peravai Kalaiyarasi Natarajan's view:

Former CM Annadurai said, "One Clan One God". The government envisioned by Annadurai is made into a reality by CM Stalin. Karunanidhi, like Annadurai, respected the rights of others and did not prevent anyone, not even his family members from worshipping God or going to temples. Such a person's son is Stalin, who need not be taught about the principles of governance.

Such a government was accused of not giving importance to religion and not respecting the religious rights of people. The lies and the accusations are nothing but political games played by the opposition to spread hatred about DMK. DMK has replied to the accusations through its actions i.e. consecration for more than 1000 temples in just 2 years.

Finally Kalaiyarasi Natarajan said, "....my request to CM Stalin is to perform the consecration ceremony in Tamil language instead of Sanskrit which is possible only by his government."

The existent proverb is 'Do not live in a place where there is no temple'. DMK government's new proverb is 'Do not leave any temple without performing the consecration ceremony'.
