Starting from May 1, Chennaities will not get a 5 per cent discount on paying their annual tax property.
April 30 is the last day for property tax payment with a 5 per cent rebate. "Dear #Chennaiites,Be a part of #Chennai's development by promptly paying your property tax! Get a 5% incentive on paying your property tax for the 1st half year of 2024-25," the Greater Chennai Corporation said in a post on X.

Those paying from tomorrow have to shell out a one per cent penalty with interest despite missing on the five per cent discount.
How to pay tax online? Here's a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Go to the official page at https://chennaicorporation.gov.in/gcc/online-payment/property-tax/property-tax-online-payment
Step 2: Enter the Zone Number, Bill Number, Division Code, and Sub Number.
Step 3: Click on 'Pay Tax'.
Step 4: The payable amount will be shown. Select the 'Assessment Year'.
Step 5: Choose the 'Mode of Payment' and proceed to 'Pay'.
Upon completion, you'll receive an acknowledgement for the paid bill.
Chennai alone has approximately 13.5 lakh property owners and the corporation earns Rs 850 crore from property owners every six months.
