Chennai Water Crisis: CMWSSB Announces 24-Hour Water Supply Cut In Several Areas On March 4
Residents of Chennai, take note! A Chennai water cut has been announced for 15 areas on March 4 and 5 due to major pipeline works by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL). Authorities have urged the public to store sufficient water in advance to avoid inconvenience.
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) stated that the disruption is due to pipeline interconnection work at Uthamar Gandhi Road and Sterling Road in Nungambakkam. The work will begin at 10 AM on March 4 and continue until 10 AM on March 5, according to a DT Next report.

Areas Affected by the Water Cut
The water supply disruption will impact key localities in Teynampet (Zone 9), Kodambakkam (Zone 10), and Adyar (Zone 13), including:
- Choolaimedu
- Nungambakkam
- Mambalam
- Saidapet
- Gopalapuram
- Royapettah
- Mylapore
- Alwarpet
Alternative Water Supply Arrangements
For those affected by the Chennai water cut, CMWSSB has assured that tanker services will be available. Residents can request water through the official website: cmwssb.tn.gov.in.
Areas without regular water connections or those experiencing low pressure will also receive water via tankers and street taps, with authorities ensuring uninterrupted service.
With a Chennai water cut in place for 24 hours, residents are advised to store enough water in advance. Stay updated with official announcements from CMWSSB and make necessary arrangements to avoid inconvenience.
