Chennai: School teacher thrashed for reprimanding student
Chennai, Nov 21: One of the teachers at Loyola school in Chennai was thrashed by a group of 30 men for reprimanding a student, media reports said on Friday, Nov 21.
According to TV reports, a student's father rushed to the Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School for boys in Kodambakkam, Chennai, along with a group of 30 relatives.
The incident happened on Thursday, Nov 20 when S Baskar, the Physical Education teacher was badly thrashed and is now admitted in the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital
TOI report said that Baskar had reprimanded a 13-year-old student of Class 8th for allegedly speaking in Tamil, The student, who is a son of a businessman, reportedly fainted after being beaten up the teacher.
However, the school authorities have denied the allegation that the student was beaten up.
The teachers and parents staged a protest for thrashing the teacher within the school premises, that even led to a huge traffic jam near the school.
Kodambakkam police has filed the complaint from both the sides.
