Chennai Power Cut On Feb 4: Here Are The Affected Areas On Wednesday

Chennai residents in parts of Thirumullaivoyal will face a temporary power outage on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) carries out maintenance work.

Electricity supply will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in localities including Vellanoor, Pothur, Pokkisham Boomi Nagar, Kannadapalayam, Siva Garden, Chelli Amman Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, RKJ Valli Vel Nagar, and Thai Nagar.

However, the power will be restored earlier if the work is completed ahead of schedule, minimizing inconvenience to residents.

Chennai Metro Revenue Surge

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has reported a bright spot in its finances. The transport utility's annual report for 2024‑25 shows a 15% jump in revenue, rising to ₹425.64 crore from ₹369.49 crore the previous year. The growth was driven largely by non‑fare box income, which climbed nearly 30% to ₹135.39 crore. Parking fees contributed ₹22.60 crore, reflecting a 7% increase, while advertising and property development initiatives added significant streams of income.

CMRL has electrified 312 viaduct piers and portals to support standardized advertising displays, and licensing agreements with Mudra Ventures are expected to generate ₹12.61 crore annually. With Phase II corridors under construction, officials believe non‑fare revenue will play a crucial role in sustaining operations as ridership expands.
