Hours before that the CMRL said that the online ticketing, including the mobile app, was not unavailable due to technical issues. It had advised passengers to purchase tickets from metro station counters until the problem was resolved.

It had also stated that the rectification efforts were underway while apologizing for any inconvenience caused.

As a result, many commuters were unavailable to book tickets.

Meanwhile, 'Kaveri', the tunnel boring machine (TBM) by the CMRL commenced tunnelling beneath the Adyar River, three months after its deployment, The Hindu reported. It has now successfully crossed the riverbed and is expected to arrive at the site of the Adyar Junction Metro station shortly.

In the coming years, this tunnel will facilitate commuter travel between Adyar and various other parts of the city via the Metro Rail system. It forms a crucial segment of corridor 3 within the Phase II Project, connecting Madhavaram to SIPCOT.
