Chennai: KMC Metro Station Construction Work: Barnaby Road Closed - Check Diversion Routes
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has implemented traffic diversions on Poonamallee High Road (EVR Salai) and surrounding areas due to the ongoing construction work of a KMC Metro station on Barnaby Road.
The diversions, implemented on a trial basis, aim to streamline traffic flow and ensure the safety of commuters during the construction period.

As part of the diversions:
- Barnaby Road will be temporarily closed from the junction of EVR Salai - Barnaby Road and Rajarathinam Street - Barnaby Road.
- Vehicles traveling from EVR Salai towards Barnaby Road at the EVR Salai - Barnaby Road Junction will be redirected further ahead to make a U-turn in front of Guest Hotel towards Ega Junction, then proceeding left onto Vasu Street, Rajarathinam Street, and finally onto Barnaby Road.
- Vehicles approaching from Taylors Road will be directed to make a compulsory left turn at EVR Salai instead of a right, making a U-turn in front of Guest Hotel to reach their destination.
- Vehicles coming from Ega Junction will be guided to continue straight for 50 meters and make a U-turn at a newly proposed location to reach their destination.
- Vehicles bound for Barnaby Road from Taylors Road Junction will be redirected to make a left turn at Ega Junction, then onto Vasu Street, Rajarathinam Street, and finally onto Barnaby Road.
- Vehicles approaching from Gurusamy Bridge towards Barnaby Road will be directed to make a compulsory left turn at EVR Salai and then a U-turn in front of Guest Hotel.
- Rajarathinam Street to Barnaby Road has been designated as one-way, with vehicles coming from Muniyappa Street, Manikeshwari Street, and Waddels Road restricted from making a right turn onto Rajarathinam Street.
- Vehicles heading towards Dasaprakash on EVR Salai will be directed to make a right turn towards Gangu Reddy Subway, followed by a U-turn after 50 meters to reach their destination.
- Vehicles from Gangu Reddy Subway will be guided to make a left turn instead of a right onto EVR Salai, followed by a compulsory left turn and a U-turn in front of Nehru Park Metro Station.
- These diversions are expected to remain in place until the completion of the metro station construction work. Commuters are urged to follow the designated routes and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic movement in the area.
