Chennai: Fire Breaks Out At Vijaya Forum Mall

A fire broke out at the McDonald's outlet in Nexus Vijaya Mall, Chennai (formerly Forum Mall) on Monday, prompting a swift evacuation of the premises.

Thick smoke billowing from the first-floor eatery triggered panic among shoppers and staff. Fire crews rushed to the Virugambakkam site and worked to bring the situation under control. Visuals from the scene showed flames and smoke, while authorities confirmed that the mall was cleared as a precaution. No injuries have been reported so far.

In a statement issued to the publication, a spokesperson for McDonald's India (W&S) said the incident was "swiftly brought under control by the on-site McDonald's team in coordination with the mall safety team" and confirmed that there were no injuries.

"At McDonald's India, the safety and well-being of our customers, employees, and community are of utmost importance. Our restaurants are equipped with robust safety systems, detailed response protocols, and comprehensive employee training to ensure preparedness for such situations.
