Chennai: 50 abandoned passports dumped in a postbox; probe begins
Chennai, June 10: Chennai police went into a tizzy as they recovered 50 abandoned passports dumped inside a postbox at 28th street in Nanganallur area, within three days since last week.
According to reports, the dumped passports were found to be issued from different locations like Chennai, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Singapore, UAE, Kuala Lumpur and even from the US.

So far, police has not been able to track down the culprits behind this massive dumping of passports, as the area, where they are recovered has no CCTV camera.
As of now, all the passports have been sent to the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) to further investigate the mysterious case.
Some of them are said to be lost passports and ten of them are expired.
