Can BJP Outperform Congress In South India In Lok Sabha Polls? Here's What This Pre Poll Survey Claims
With only a few days left before the beginning of the 7-phase Lok Sabha elections, Times Now and ETG Survey predicted that the ruling BJP will come back to power with a bang.
According to the pre-poll survey, the BJP-led NDA is expected to claim a commanding 386 seats out of the 545 up for grabs. In contrast, the Opposition bloc INDIA is projected to secure 118 seats, while smaller parties are predicted to secure 39 seats. Yet, amidst this forecast, the lingering question remains: can the ruling party, often branded as a North Indian entity by some opposition factions, make significant headway in the South, potentially bridging the North vs South divide?

Across the five South Indian states boasting 129 seats, predictions suggest the BJP could secure anywhere between 30 to 36 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress is positioned to secure 24 to 32 seats (excluding DMK seats).
There are 129 seats in five South Indian states. Going by the predictions, the BJP is predicted to win somewhere between 30-36 seats in South India. On the other hand, the Congress is poised to bag 24-32 seats (excluding DMK seats).
As per the survey, the DMK is expected to win 20-21 seats, the AIADMK is poised to win 1-3 seats while others are predicted to bag 5-7 seats in Tamil Nadu. This is one of the few states the BJP has tried hard to leave an impact. Interestingly, it is predicted to get better vote share than the AIADMK and the Congress.
Moving to Karnataka, the BJP is expected to clinch 22 to 24 seats, while the Congress is forecasted to secure 3 to 5 seats. The JDS, now aligned with the NDA, is projected to secure 0 to 2 seats.
There are 25 seats up for grabs in Andhra. The ruling YSRCP is poised to secure 19-20 seats, while the BJP's allies TDP and Jana Sena could jointly win three to four seats. The saffron might open its account this time.
Likewise, the BJP could possibly win 1 seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Kerala where there are 20 seats. The Congress is anticipated to win between 8 to 10 seats, with its ally IUML expected to secure 1 to 2 seats. The CPM is poised to secure 6 to 8 seats, while other parties may win 0 to 1 seat.
Coming to Telangana, there are a total of 17 Lok Sabha seats. NDA is likely to bag 4 to 6 seats which is almost the same as compared to the previous polls where the saffron party had won four. The INDIA bloc is likely to increase its tally to 8 to 10 seats from 3. The BRS is likely to secure 1-3 seats while others can bag up to zero to two seats.
