Bengaluru-Madurai In 7.45 Hours: PM To Launch Vande Bharat Express On Aug 31 - Check Timings, Ticket Prices

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express on August 31. This new service is poised to become the fastest train between the two cities, covering the 430-kilometer distance in just 7.45 hours, a significant improvement over the current fastest train, which takes nine-and-a-half hours.

The Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, with Tuesday as its only day off. The train will make stops at several key stations, including Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Krishnarajapuram, and Bengaluru Cantonment.

The train's schedule is as follows: departing from Madurai at 5:15 am, it will reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:00 pm. On its return journey, the train will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:30 pm and arrive back in Madurai at 9:45 pm. Each stop will have a brief halt, with the longest breaks of five minutes at Tiruchchirappalli and Salem.

  • 5.15 am: Madurai
  • 5.59 am: Dindigul - 2 minute break
  • 6.50 am: Tiruchchirappalli - 5 minute break
  • 8.08 am: Karur - 2 minute break
  • 8.32 am: Namakkal - 2 minute break
  • 9.15 am: Salem - 5 minute break
  • 12.50 pm : Krishnarajapuram - 2 minute break
  • 13.00 pm: Bengaluru Cantt

In return, the train leaves from Bengaluru Cantt at 1.30 pm and reach Madurai at 9.45 pm.

  • 4.50 pm: Salem
  • 5.40 pm: Namakkal
  • 6.00 pm: Karur
  • 7.25 pm: Tiruchchirappalli
  • 9.08 pm: Dindigul

Ticket Price

The fare for a chair car is expected to be between Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,300, while the executive class is likely to cost between Rs 1,800 and Rs 2,000.

Currently, around 60 Vande Bharat trains are operating across India. In Tamil Nadu, these high-speed trains are already serving key routes such as Chennai-Bangalore, Chennai-Coimbatore, Chennai-Tirunelveli, and Coimbatore-Bangalore.

The addition of the Madurai-Bengaluru route will further enhance connectivity in the region.

In addition to Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, the PM will flag off Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil train on August 31.
