Annamalai Slams Udhayanidhi For Allegedly Naming Baby After Suriya's 'Rolex' Character In Kamal's 'Vikram'

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai has taken potshots at actor Suriya's character 'Rolex' in Kamal Haasan's blockbuster movie 'Vikram'.

During a press conference, Annamalai lambasted Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for reportedly naming a baby 'Rolex', a name associated with a drug kingpin in the movie.

"Yesterday Udhayanidhi named a baby as Rolex... it is the name of a notorious character in Kamal Haasan's film 'Vikram'," he remarked, refraining from directly mentioning Suriya's name.

Annamalai further derided Stalin for allegedly producing what he termed "propaganda movies," indicating that his party was using cinema as a tool to carefully construct narratives while mentioning about the 2023 movie 'Maamannan'.

He said, for instance, there is a stark portrayal of regional divisions, with antagonists depicted in the North and protagonists in the South in the movie. "They have vilified the letter 'J'portaying it like a bad word," he criticized, admitting he hadn't watched the movie as he has "better work to do".

Hindi speakers use word "ji" at the end of someone's name to convey respect.

Annamalai, who is contesting from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat, had slammed actor-politician Kamal Haasan for his claims that the BJP would make Nagpur as India's new capital if Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA comes to power.

Addressing the media, Annamalai said, "Anyone making such claims should be taken to a mental hospital and get their brain examined. Whether it's Kamal Haasan or anyone else, they need to check whether both the left and right brains are functioning properly, whether they are conscious, and whether they are eating their food properly. Kamal Haasan should be taken to a good psychiatrist and get professional advice. How can India's capital be shifted to Nagpur?"

The BJP leader further stated, "If he had claimed that Chennai must be made the summer or winter capital of the country I can accept that. So Kamal Haasan suddenly realised that Nagpur has the RSS's office and hence concluded that India's capital would be shifted to Nagpur. Kamal Haasan should get his head examined. Kamal Haasan should decide if he is speaking consciously or if he wants to clamour for a Rajya Sabha ticket like this from the DMK?"
