The development comes as rumours started doing rounds that Seeman had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Chennai. However, he has shot down the speculations and said as per The Commune: "I was at a private hotel in Guindy for a family event-a wedding reception. I had no clue the Finance Minister was even there, and I certainly didn't meet her. There's no reason for me to sneak around for some secret chat."

The NTK chief has also clarified that his party is not going to join hands with big parties following speculations of having alliance with the AIADMK. He added, "Some folks think NTK should team up with AIADMK to take on the DMK juggernaut. But if I hitched my wagon to any big player, our voter base would tank. For the sake of Tamil Nadu's progress and to keep NTK's principles intact, we're going it alone."
