AIADMK leader on Jaya’s health: Amma responding well to treatment; talking to people

After days of silence on the health status of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, a senior AIADMK state leader says there is absolutely no cause for any concern.

Chennai, Oct 20: As people of Tamil Nadu are eagerly waiting to hear some news about the health condition of their Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, a leader of the ruling AIADMK says Amma is responding very well to the treatment.

According to a report published by Hindustan Times, senior AIADMK leader C Ponnaiyan said Jayalalithaa was making good progress and there was absolutely no cause for any concern.

"Amma has begun talking to people. She spoke to Dr Richard Beale from England and thanked him for taking good care of her," Ponnaiyan said.

"She has had a lung infection and because of that she had breathing trouble as well. That is why she was being given respiratory support, which is a normal medical procedure. She has responded very well to the treatment," he added.

Even a report published by The Hindu states the chief minister's health condition has improved.

For more than a week now, no health bulletin about Amma (as the chief minister is called by her supporters) has been issued by Apollo Hospital in Chennai, where she is currently undergoing treatment. The voters of the southern state are curious to know about the chief minister's health status.

She is undergoing treatment at the hospital since September 22.

Ever since Jayalalithaa (68) was been admitted to Apollo Hospital at Greams Road, Chennai, her health has been subjected to countless rumours, speculation and even fake pictures spread through social media.
