Actor Vijay Sethupathi’s comment about Government schools becoming corporate schools!!!!

In the last 2 years of DMK regime government schools in Chennai have undergone tremendous transformation. From insanitary and dusty conditions, the classrooms have been upgraded to modern smart classrooms in the DMK regime under CM Stalin. The transformation helped the government schools to be considered on par with the corporate schools in infrastructure. The scheme which aided the transformation is CITIIS (City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain).

Chennai Nesapakkam government higher secondary school is one such school which has become modern with facilities such as new building, modern computer lab etc. Even the old infrastructure was renovated to make it look like a new one. Before, the school had only one science lab for the students studying from 6th standard to 12th standard. Through the CITIIS project, a separate science lab was built for students from 6th to 10th standard. A new building was constructed for the 11th and 12th students which contains several facilities such as separate chemistry lab, biology lab, computer lab etc.

In addition to all of the facilities, new classes and a new library was also built. In the way of addressing the problem of insufficient toilets in the school, new ones have been constructed. The new toilets were set up with modern facilities and were made as disabled friendly also. The renovation works included the painting of fungus formed walls and drawing upon it with attractive images which creates a pleasant environment in the classrooms. The images on the walls were drawn with themes which depicted the messages of scholars and important proverbs etc. In a way it helped the students to understand their subjects better since they have some kind of visual representation of what they are studying.

Even the stairs in the school have been changed to a means of learning for the children with proverbs and important messages written on them. The changes seen so far are indoor changes. As far as outdoor changes are concerned, a new assembly hall has been built for the students to avoid the effects of harsh weather conditions. The assembly hall helps to avoid the exhaustion experienced by students while saying prayers on a sunny day and it also helps to tackle the difficulties faced on a rainy day. Apart from the regular usage of the hall for saying prayers, it can be used as a place for conducting school programs also.

For Nesappakam government school, getting these facilities was like a dream and now all of them are fulfilled at the same time. On the whole, the school has attained a new and refreshed look with new classrooms, new benches, newly painted walls, new fans and even new lights. The credit for this new look of the school goes to CM Stalin. "So, on behalf of the government school students, parents, teachers I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to CM Stalin who has elevated the position and prestige of the government schools and its teachers", said the Principal of the Nesapakkam school.

An RO plant has been installed for providing drinking water to students. All the new facilities in the school made the government school look like a private one. In the last 2 years schools have been transformed from a place of just teaching subjects to a place where students learn about the experiences and lessons needed for life. The playgrounds of government schools have been upgraded to the standards of international sports stadiums.

Separate maths lab, science lab and vocational classes such as tailoring, industrial training are also provided in the government schools to develop the skill set of the students. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has also shared his opinion about the changes brought in government schools via a voice note which is circulating virally in the social media. The images of the modern classrooms of the government schools has become the hot topic of discussion today. Recently CM Stalin has opened the government schools which are modernised at a cost of 12.99 crores in Tondiarpet, Rayapuram, Anna Nagar and Adyar in Chennai.
