7th Pay Commission: Tamil Nadu Govt Announces Diwali Bonus - Check How Much Here
In a boost for government employees in Tamil Nadu, the DMK government announced Diwali bonuses and ex-gratia payments for 2.75 lakh employees of state public sector undertakings (PSUs) and statutory boards for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
According to an official statement, eligible Group C and D employees of profit-making PSUs will receive bonuses ranging from Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800, representing 8.33% of their salary, along with an 11.67% ex-gratia.

For employees of PSUs without sufficient profits, a bonus of 8.33% and an ex-gratia payment of 1.67% will be provided. "On October 10, the Chief Minister ordered the payment of bonus and ex-gratia to 2,75,670 PSU workers ahead of the Diwali festive season," the statement noted. This move will cost the government ₹369.65 crore.
Employees in sectors like TANGEDCO, state transport undertakings, the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, and the Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation will receive a 20% bonus and ex-gratia.
Group C and D employees of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Drainage Board will get a 10% bonus and ex-gratia. Workers in the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board will be granted an 8.33% bonus, while Civil Supplies Corporation employees will receive an additional Rs 3,000 as ex-gratia.
However, the state government has also said that it will pass a separate order over bonuses and ex-gratia for employees of cooperative institutions and other organizations.
