Woman sets herself ablaze in front of Punjab CM's residence

Chandigarh, Dec 12: Apparently depressed over being unemployed, a 38-year-old woman today set herself ablaze in front of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's residence here, police said.

Identified as Gurpreet Kaur, the woman has received 40 per cent burn injuries and has been admitted to general hospital, police said.

The incident took place this morning when the woman set herself afire at the ground across the road in front of Badal's residence.

Police said that the woman holds a diploma in a computer course had set herself ablaze because she was unemployed.

Further investigations in the matter are on, they said.
