Gold and Silver Price In Chennai and Madurai Today: Gold and silver prices in Chennai and Madurai recorded a marginal decline on Thursday morning, offering slight relief to buyers across Tamil Nadu.

As per the latest update at 09:20 AM (IST) on Bullions website, the price of 24 karat gold stood at ₹15,137 per gram, while 10 grams was priced at ₹151,370. This reflects a decrease of 0.38% compared to the previous session, where the rate for 10 grams was ₹151,950. Market analysts attribute the dip to minor fluctuations in global bullion trends and currency movements.

Similarly, 22 karat gold, widely preferred for jewellery, was priced at ₹13,876 per gram, with 10 grams costing ₹138,756. Other variants also saw corresponding pricing, with 20 karat gold at ₹12,614 per gram and 18 karat gold at ₹11,353 per gram, maintaining the overall downward trend across purity levels.

Silver prices, meanwhile, witnessed a sharper fall. The rate for silver 999 fine dropped to ₹237 per gram, or ₹237,200 per kilogram, marking a decline of 1.58% from the previous level of ₹241,020 per kilogram. Other silver categories followed suit, with sterling (925) silver priced at ₹219 per gram and 900 coin silver at ₹213 per gram.

Traders in Chennai noted that the dip, though modest, has led to increased footfall in jewellery stores, particularly among retail buyers planning purchases for weddings and upcoming auspicious occasions. Industry experts suggest that such short-term corrections often encourage buying activity, especially in a market like Tamil Nadu where gold holds both cultural and financial significance.
