Ratan Tata Passes Away At 86

Ratan Naval Tata, the esteemed industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons, has sadly passed away at the age of 86. He breathed his last on Thursday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where he had been admitted following a sudden drop in blood pressure.

His health took a turn for the worse, leading to his transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Taking to X. formerly known as Twitter, Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises, confirmed his death.

On Monday, Tata was admitted for routine medical evaluations related to his age and various health concerns. Although there were earlier reports about his hospitalization, he had reassured the public through social media, stating that his medical checkups were routine and expressing that there was "no cause for concern." Tata emphasized his good spirits and urged the public and media to avoid spreading misinformation about his health.

Who Was Ratan Tata?

Ratan Tata was a pivotal figure in Indian industry, having taken over as chairman of Tata Sons in 1991. During his tenure, he transformed the Tata Group from a predominantly domestic entity into a global powerhouse by spearheading the acquisition of prominent companies such as Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover. His leadership helped elevate the Tata Group into a business empire valued at over $100 billion.

After retiring in December 2012, Ratan Tata was succeeded by Cyrus Mistry, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2022. Tata's legacy is marked by his significant contributions to Indian industry and philanthropy, and he will be remembered as a visionary leader who shaped the Tata Group into a global conglomerate.
