Ola Electric Under Fire As Regulators Probe Sales Discrepancies: Report

Ola Electric is facing heightened scrutiny from regulators, with the Ministry of Heavy Industries requesting clarification on discrepancies between the company's reported sales figures and the number of vehicles actually registered.

According to a CNBC-TV18 report, Ola claimed to have sold 25,000 vehicles in February, yet only 8,600 were recorded on the Vahan Portal.

As part of the investigation, officials from the Maharashtra Regional Transport Office (RTO) visited several Ola showrooms across the state, the report states. They checked whether the vehicles had the required paperwork and were being sold with a valid trade certificate.

However, the report notes that 36 scooters were confiscated in Mumbai and Pune due to non-compliance issues.

The enforcement action also reached Punjab, where several Ola showrooms have reportedly been closed down.

In Jabalpur, too, RTO authorities issued notices to Ola Electric after discovering unregistered scooters being sold without a valid trade certificate, according to the report.
