Gold weaken 0.19% in futures trade

New Delhi, Jan 9: Gold futures fell by 0.19 per cent to Rs 26,749 per 10 grams today as participants indulged in reducing exposures amid subdued demand at spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February contracts eased by Rs 52, or 0.19 per cent, to trade at Rs 26,749 per 10 grams in a turnover of 5,155 lots.

On similar lines, gold for delivery in far-month April contracts shed Rs 51, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 26,943 per ten grams in 63 lots. Globally, gold lost as much as 0.18 per cent to USD 1,208.90 an ounce in New York yesterday.

Analysts said apart from a weakening trend overseas, slackened demand from jewellers at domestic spot markets, weighed on gold prices at futures trade here.
