Repolling underway in Odisha

o
Bhubaneswar, April 25: Repolling is underway on Friday at nine polling stations in Odisha where voting was disrupted April 17 due to allegations of rigging and other irregularities, an official said.

"Repolling started at 7 a.m. It is going on peacefully. By 9 a.m., the polling was 14 percent," Joint Chief Electoral Officer Jyoti Prakash Dash told IANS.

Repolling is being held in six polling stations in Cuttack district, two in Keonjhar district and one in Kendrapara district, he said.

Simultaneous elections for 21 Lok Sabha and 147 assembly seats were held in two phases April 10 and April 17.

Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, had accused the ruling Biju Janata Dal of rigging and tampering the electronic voting machines (EVM) at these voting centres.
