Shivraj Singh Chouhan takes oath as MP CM for 3rd term
Bhopal, Dec 14: BJP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday took oath as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for the third consecutive term. His party witnessed a massive win the recently held polls in the state where it won 165 out of 230 seats. The Congress won just 57 seats. In 2008, the BJP had won 143 seats against the Congress's 71.
Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had formally declared Chouhan as the chief of the party's legislature wing after taking into consideration the views of all the winning MLAs.
Election held in Churu in Rajasthan
On Friday, election was held peacefully in Churu assembly seat in Rajasthan. Election in this seat was postponed after the death of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Jagdish Meghwal. The rest of the 199 seats in Rajasthan assembly went to the polls on December 1. Nine candidates contested the election from Churu, including sitting Congress MLA Hazi Maqbool. The BJP fielded Rajendra Singh Rathore from the seat. Poll officials said 78.55 per cent voters' turnout was registered in the Churu assembly poll.

The BJP swept Rajasthan, winning 162 of the 199 seats that went to the polls while the Congress was decimated. Vasundhara Raje was sworn in as the chief minister of the state for the second time on December 13.
On December 11, Raje addressed a rally in Churu to canvass support for Rathore, one of her trusted party leaders and also a former state minister.
The result of the Churu poll will be declared on December 16.
