Jabalpur, Jul 7: Disposing of a 'letter petition' filed by Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on the issue of MPPEB scam, a division bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday directed him to file a proper petition in the case and not involve courts in political battles.

The division bench of Chief Justice A M Khanvilkar and Justice Alok Aradhe, while disposing of Singh's 'letter petition', directed him "to file a proper petition" in the matter as courts are not "rajniti ka akhara" (political battle fields) and he should "file a petition as per the legal procedure."

"Demanding something from the court by writing letter will set a wrong precedent as courts have their own procedures," the bench ruled. The Congress leader had earlier written a 'letter petition' to the High Court demanding CBI probe into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

He had highlighted the way students and their parents were arrested in a midnight crackdown, and also alleged that despite involvement of RSS leaders they were not questioned.

He had also raised the issue of "conflict of interest" as Additional Advocate General Purshendra Kaurav was the lawyer of former ABVP leader V D Sharma in a case related to admission in private medical colleges which was subjudice, and now he is defending the state and MPPEB.
