Yashwant Sinha: Rahul has emerged as the new superman for the UPA

Bangalore, Feb 27: In Bangalore to address a gathering of party workers on Wednesday, former finance minister Yashwant Sinha said that the current condition of our economy was bad and that all sectors of the economy were in the dumps.

Before interacting with the people here, Sinha addressed the gathering and listed out the scams that the current government is facing. "This government has been dysfunctional from day one. The NDA government had left a healthy economy in 2004. Most of the scams took place during the tenure of UPA-I and the government has just tried to put a lid on all these scams," he said.

Sinha said that the UPA government was indulging in acrobatics and that our country suffered from double digit inflation. "People are not just merely disappointed but they are angry too," he said.

Hitting out at the Congress, he said that 'Rahul Gandhi had emerged as the new superman for the UPA.' "The Cabinet always goes with Rahul Gandhi's decision. Government of India has no option but to listen to Rahul. How can Manmohan Singh be the leader of India when he is not the leader of his own party?" he asked.

"Manmohan Singh represents the tragedy of the Congress party," Sinha said. He added that many times people have approached him and told him that they were fed up with the UPA government and wanted the NDA to come back to power.

Making a veiled attack at Nandan Nilekani, Sinha said that the Aadhaar scheme had not taken us anywhere. "The Aadhaar scheme has not helped us but has definitely helped the gentleman in getting him a Congress ticket. Good luck to him," he said.

Speaking about the upcoming Lok Sabha elections Sinha said that the BJP was absolutely confident of winning the elections. "Thing will get better from now. Narendra Modi is not an individual but an idea. Narendra Modi delivers what he promises," he said.
