Will Bengaluru get a Mayor on September 11?
Bengaluru, Sept 3: Which party will form the council at the BBMP? A date of September 11 has been tentatively fixed for the Maoyral elections to the BBMP. Currently, all parties are in the race to form the council at the BBMP.
The Congress which will need to support of the JD(S) and the independents is trying to form the council. The JD(S) has demanded from the Congress that it should be given the Deputy Mayor's post.

The Congress which is divided over the formation of the council feels that it should take the plunge with the JDS to keep the BJP at bay. [BBMP polls: Who will be Bengaluru's Mayor?]
The BBMP council now requires a strength of 131 in order to elect a Mayor. The BJP is falling short by four while the Congress needs 7.
The BJP has meanwhile, moved the Karnataka High Court seeking clarification on the voting rights of the MLAs, MP's and the Legislators. [BBMP polls: JD(S) ministers to meet on Sept 5]
The BJP seeks to know if the voting rights of the elected representatives in the assembly should count or not in the voting to the BBMP council.
