Who Is Suchana Seth? Bengaluru CEO Arrested For Killing Her 4-Year-Old Son

Suchana Seth, the head of The Mindful AI Lab, was arrested in Karnataka's Chitradurga on Monday while transporting her son's body in a bag. According to reports, Seth allegedly killed her 4-year-old son at a hotel in Candolim, North Goa.

The Goa Police reported that the accused committed this dreadful act to prevent her ex-husband from meeting their child. The couple married in 2010, and their son was born in 2019. However, disputes arose, leading to their divorce in 2020, with court-mandated visitation rights for the father on Sundays.

Who is Suchana Seth?

Suchana is an AI ethics expert and data scientist with over 12 years of experience in mentoring data science teams, and scaling machine learning solutions at startups and industry research labs. She has been a Mozilla Fellow at Data & Society, a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Centre at Harvard University, and a research fellow at the Raman Research Institute. She also holds patents in natural language processing.

Suchana has advised research on IoT ethics, mentored data-for-good projects with DataKind, and led data science workshops with organizations like Women Who Code. As a physicist, she brings a complex systems perspective to auditing and designing AI for inclusion, robustness, fairness, interpretability, transparency, and accountability.
