WATCH Video Bengaluru Bus Fire: Video Shows BMTC Bus Engulfed In Flames

On Tuesday, July 9, around 8.50 am, a BMTC bus experienced a fire incident near Anil Kumble Circle on MG Road in Bengaluru.

The bus, identified by registration number KA 57 F 1232 and belonging to the Koramangala depot, caught fire originating from its engine, as reported by The News Minute.

Passersby captured videos showing thick smoke billowing from the bus as flames engulfed it. The driver, Rajkumar, provided an account to Kannada news channel TV9, explaining that while en route to Shivaji Nagar, he had stopped at a red traffic signal on MG Road.

Upon attempting to restart the bus, he noticed smoke and quickly realized a fire had erupted. Rajkumar immediately took action to evacuate all 30 passengers safely from the bus. Fire department officials responded swiftly, with a fire tender arriving at the scene by 9.00 am, as reported By Lokmat Times.

They managed to extinguish the fire promptly, preventing it from causing further damage. Despite the intensity of the fire and the dense smoke visible in the videos, no casualties were reported. The incident resulted in significant traffic congestion on MG Road, prompting traffic police to divert vehicles to alternative routes to manage the situation, as per the media report.

BMTC officials confirmed the initiation of an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. This investigation aims to ascertain whether it was due to a technical malfunction or another factor that led to the sudden ignition of the bus's engine.
