People Tree Foundation, a renowned hospital in Bengaluru, is organising a fund raiser to help patients from economically weaker sections of the society. A walkathon planned on December 18 hopes to draw donors to fund free surgeries.

People Tree Foundation has roped in prominent violin artist Aneesh Vidyashankar to perform at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on Sunday. The hospital has invited donors to purchase passes of Rs 1000, Rs 2500 and Rs 5000 for the events and contribute.

At the beginning of this year, the hospital in its 'People Touch 2' movement had pledged to carry out free surgeries to 300 patients from economically weaker sections of the society.

Sunday's walkathon is an attempt to extend the free services with the help of good Samaritans willing to extend a helping hand. The hospital also looks at the donation as a way to save tax under section 80G deduction.

People Tree Foundation, in the last two years, has carried out over 160 surgeries and has set up over 50 health camps in rural areas. The foundation has also provided primary and secondary education to over 40 students. People Tree Foundation has opened up phone lines and email for queries on the same.
