asking the audience at an election rally was tweeted by his daughter Poonam Mahajan, who is contesting this Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North Central against heavyweight Congress leader Priya Dutt, on his eighth death anniversary.

Through his words, Mahajan attacked rival parties like the Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janta Dal by targetting their symbols.

Mahajan, who was known for his organisational and oratory skills, was shot by his own brother Pravin on April 22, 2006, over a family dispute. He died 13 days later on May 3.

Mahajan had contested two Lok Sabha elections, in 1996 and 1998. He had won the first but lost the second. He was the man behind the BJP's campaigning for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and took responsibility after the NDA failed to return to power.
